FREMONT — A life sciences firm that is crafting ways to combat cancer has more than tripled its office space with a relocation to Fremont and an exit from Menlo Park.
Personalis is moving its head offices to Dumbarton Circle in Fremont’s Ardenwood District in a move that will give the biotech and life sciences company considerably more elbow room.
The biotech firm has leased an office building at 6600 Dumbarton Circle that totals 100,000 square feet, which is more than three times as much space as the 31,200 square feet the Personalis has decided to exit in Menlo Park.
Personalis took the space because it will have considerably more space for lab rooms, operations, research, and process development, according to a representative for the company.
The company provides cutting-edge software analytics and genome sequencing to help pharmaceutical companies develop cancer treatments that are custom-tailored for a patient.
Personalis was founded in 2011 as a Stanford University spinout.
The state-of-the-art facility that Personalis has leased is one of the largest genomic-sequencing laboratories in the world, according to the company.
Personalis signed a 13-year lease for the office and research building. A lease of this length will provide Personalis with the location stability it needs to meet regulatory requirements.
The newly leased complex includes an indoor/outdoor cafeteria as well as exercise areas, Personalis said.
