According to the new Mindbody Wellness Index, 70% of residents say they feel happy most of the time. The Florida state district also stood out as the “healthiest and most active” in the country.
Miami was voted America’s Happiest City for the second time in a row by the Mindbody Wellness Index, which explores what wellness means and how it’s perceived among the citizens of that country.
“The happiest city in America is Miami, with 70% of residents saying they feel happy most of the time.” indicated the report analyzes the well-being of Americans in seven dimensions: physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, environmental, social, and occupational.
According to the ranking, 70% of Miami residents say they feel happy most of the time.
In turn, and according to the same ranking, Miami is the healthiest and most vibrant city in the United States: more than87% of residents exercise once a week or more.
“Since the pandemic began, more than three-quarters of residents say they are more focused on their health and well-being, more than in any other city in the US,” the study said.
In terms of spending on beauty and personal care services, Miami also ranked among the main cities in the US, with an average per capita spending of $ 74 per month on these activities.
Finally, more than 70% of Miami residents say they are spiritually fulfilled, ranking second in the country on that matter.
The Mindbody Wellness Index 2021 is a bit different from previous years, they pointed out on their blog. This year, the research sought to determine how well-being was experienced during the coronavirus pandemic that has disrupted the sense of “normalcy,” especially in the wellness industry.
In addition, almost 60% of Americans said they are more focused on their health and well-being since the coronavirus marked the planet’s life. The pollsters said they realize that they need to take more care of themselves to resist disease better.
“We surveyed thousands of people across the country and asked them about their wellness habits, including how stressed they feel, how close they are to their friends and family, how much alcohol they drink, what their workout habits include, how they practice fitness. Self-care and much more,” the study authors explained.
They also added questions about how Americans deal with the ‘new normal’ and how the months of pandemic living affected their physical and mental health.
The Mindbody Wellness Index was developed based on the opinion of 19,882 American adults (ages 18-65) in the nation’s 50 largest cities in an online survey between October 16 and November 16, 2020.
The survey included a variety of behavior, attitude, and preference questions related to consumer engagement in wellness and health behaviors amid a pandemic. The sample included 56% women, 43% men, and 1% who did not identify with either sex.
