‘Transforming States’ is Born to Reinvent Human Connection through Art During Pandemic Times

Masha Ermeeva is a multimedia artist who works on canvas, paper, and digital formats. Through her expressionistic, gestural figures, Masha Ermeeva transcends complex emotional and psychological states, exploring controversial themes like the role of femininity as well as personal and interpersonal relationships. Her series “Transforming States,” created on linen canvas, focuses on sensual abstracted figure compositions, exploring relationships, love, duality, transformation, and movement. Masha’s style is unique as she developed her artistic craft through the use of intuitive brushstrokes and organic shapes of the human body. Masha is exhibiting at Spectrum Miami Art Fair, Dec 1st-5th, Booth #S206, during Art Basel week to showcase her current series on linen canvas in monochromatic palette.

Masha states, “My art is autobiographical, and every painting is a living piece with a story and message behind it. I resonate with a viewer on a deeper, personal level, evoking memories, and opening an inner dialogue. I’ve discovered beauty and inspiration in dance, particularly in the movement and interactions of human bodies, that translated into my own visual vocabulary. Movement and transformation are two interconnected matters I’ve transcended in my paintings via energetic, loose brush strokes and dynamic composition. I think lately we have been out of touch, we’ve lost real human connection because of social media and the Internet. This is why I tried to picture a gravity between two souls, and express human feelings and emotions that everyone can relate to. I would like to donate a part of my earnings to stop animal abuse, wildlife illegal trafficking and help elephants in Nepal with Animal Recovery Mission.”

With a natural affinity towards painting since age 2, Masha picked up pencils and started drawing, even though no one in her family was an artist. Believing that a child’s heart leads you to true desire, she immediately went to music and art school and creativity bloomed.
