England vs USMNT live news: Team updates, Kane injury and press conference notes

Hello and welcome to our live coverage building-up to tomorrow’s absolutely mammoth World Cup clash between Gareth Southgate’s England and Gregg Berhalter’s United States.

England head into their second game of the World Cup a team revitalised after their morale-boosting 6-2 victory over Iran on Monday. Should Southgate’s side win again tomorrow, they will book their spot in the round of 16 with a match to spare.

Things are a little less rosy for the United States of America. They need to avoid defeat after their 1-1 draw with Wales and Berhalter acknowledged earlier this week that they will “have their work cut out for them” against England.

Some positive news for the USMNT, however, is that England’s captain Harry Kane may have to sit out Friday’s clash through injury. The Tottenham Hotspur striker did train yesterday and England have been keen to play down any concerns over his availability. But will Southgate really risk his talisman after he picked up a knock against Iran? It remains to be seen.

Today promises to be a very busy news day with two press conferences and two open training sessions to bring you updates from. Stick with us for all of the live news that you need to know.
