I used to work at Disney World and these are the things guests should avoid buying at the theme park

WHILE some families may think Disney World is too expensive for them, this definitely isn’t the case – if you are careful where you spend your money.

A former Disney World staff member has revealed the items you should avoid buying if you want to save money – and where you can get them instead.

A former Disney employee has revealed the things guests should avoid buying at the theme park

Kayleigh Price, who used to work at the parks for two years, revealed the things you should try to avoid buying.

Her first tip is not buy professional photo packages, which can cost up to $199. Instead, get them for free.

She wrote in Insider: “Every employee can take pictures for you from your personal device, like a phone or camera.

“And you can get all the beautiful photos you want for free.”

Her next tip is to avoid paying for car parking, which is not included in the price of a park ticket and can cost $25 per car per day.

If you’re savvy about it, you can get parking for free.

She said: “If you’re staying at any of the Disney resorts, even the cheapest ones, parking is free at all of the parks.

“Parking at Disney Springs (the big shopping and dining centre at Disney World) is free, so if you’re going there first to shop or eat, you can hop on one of the free Disney buses to the resorts and transfer to a bus to the parks.”

Next, she suggests not to waste money on a fancy Disney resort if you’re going to be out all day in the parks – you may as well stay somewhere cheaper.

She said: “If your sole purpose of staying at Disney is to go to the parks everyday, why would you spend all of your money on a resort when you won’t even be there for the majority of your trip?”

As a Disney-mad fan herself, even she struggles with her next tip which is not to waste money on souvenirs, and recommends setting a budget and asking yourself if you really need something before you buy it.

She said: “Sometimes, when I’m in the Disney stores something comes over me, and I feel the need to buy everything in sight.

“But I’m here to remind you (and myself) to practice some self-control and ask yourself if you’ll ever use the souvenir again.”

She also suggests checking online to see if the souvenir you like is cheaper elsewhere.

Her final tip is not to buy bottled water as you can get free cups of water in the parks.

She said: “Instead of buying a $5 bottle of water every time you’re thirsty – a trust me, you’ll be thirsty – you can go to any quick service dining location around the parks and ask for a free cup of water.”

Another former Disney employee has revealed the secrets guests never notice in the parks.

And a mum has shared a time-saving tip for families at Disney theme parks.
