Bellevue fire: Home lost to raging inferno with neighbours using garden hoses to try to extinguish blaze

A woman has been injured after a fire gutted a home in the Perth Hills on Sunday, with neighbours saying they desperately tried to save the property with garden hoses before the flames took hold.

The raging inferno sparked along Lifford Way about 5pm, with residents saying they were alerted to the blaze after hearing “loud explosions” and seeing thick, black smoke billowing from the two-storey home.

Several fire crews and police arrived to the scene within minutes after receiving several frantic triple-zero calls, but sadly they couldn’t save the property from the blaze, which took more than two hours to extinguish.

Two young women, both believed to be in their 20s, who lived inside the home managed to escape the inferno with only minor injuries.

A St John WA spokeswoman said one of the women was treated at the scene but she was not taken to hospital.
