GoFundMe campaign set up to cover funeral costs for 3yo Toby Allen, killed at Rockhampton Showgrounds

A three-year-old boy who died at a popular showground after he was struck by a car is being remembered by his family as king of the dinosaurs.

Emergency services were called to the Rockhampton Showgrounds in Central Queensland about 4.30pm on Tuesday.

Paramedics treated Toby Allen at the scene, but he died shortly after they arrived.

His mum Tyana Maree Dowler shared the heartbreaking news with family and friends on social media on Thursday.

Ms Dowler said her son would be forever missed by his family – his dad Chris Allen and his two siblings, Ella and Arlo, who all have a “heavy heart” since his death.

“On Tuesday (June 4) our beautiful little boy Toby was unfortunately involved in a tragic accident (resulting) in his precious little life being cut short,” she wrote.

“At this point of time we are trying our hardest to get through each day and be there for what’s left of our family.

“We will try to respond to messages as we can, please understand this is a very difficult time for us.”

“Fly high my beautiful boy, you are so loved in life and even more so in death.”

Ms Dower said the family took “solace in knowing our baby is watching over us”.

She said his sister Ella believed he would be “with all the dinosaurs he loves so much, being there king and riding them”.

A GoFundMe campaign was launched to help cover the costs of Toby’s funeral.

At the time of publication, it has raised more than $16,000 since it was started on Thursday.

Following the crash, a woman in her 40s was taken to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition.

Toby’s death comes a week before the Rocky Show at the showgrounds on June 12.
