Jets open as 2.5-point favorites over the Giants

The odds are out for this weekend’s Battle of New York at MetLife Stadium.

The Jets are currently 2.5-point favorites over their cross-town rival Giants ahead of Sunday’s game, which will kick off at 1 p.m. ET in the Meadowlands.

On the moneyline, the Jets are laying -150 odds at BetMGM Sportsbook.

The Giants are sitting at +125 to get an outright victory.

It’s the first time all season that Gang Green, coming off a bye following their impressive Week 6 victory over the Eagles, are pre-game favorites.

Robert Saleh’s team has been one of the best teams in football Against the Spread, going 4-2 thus far and surprising 3-3 after the injury to Aaron Rodgers during Week 1 against the Chiefs.

It’s the seventh time in eight games this season that the Giants come into a game as the underdog.

The only game Big Blue have had favorite status this season was Week 2 against the Cardinals in Arizona, which ended with a three-point victory.

The Giants started out the season 0-5 against the spread, but have impressed over the last two weeks, nearly upsetting the Bills during Week 6 and beating the Commanders by a touchdown on Sunday, bringing their record to 2-5 overall.

Oddsmakers are expecting the game to be a low-scoring one.

The 36.5-point consensus over/under is the lowest total as of this writing during Week 8 and among the lowest for the entire season thus far.

Betting on the NFL?

The Giants are coming off a game in which they scored just 14 points while holding Washington to 7.

Quarterback Daniel Jones is still reportedly working through a neck injury, so head coach Brian Daboll may have to once again hand the ball to Tyrod Taylor.

The Jets, meanwhile, feature one of the best defenses in the NFL so far.
