Fans of popular cafe chain Joe & The Juice have been rocked by the Danish company’s shock exit from the Australian market.
Having previously served juices, sandwiches and other snacks at multiple locations across the country, customers have been left “devastated” to see the cafe suddenly vanish from our shores.
Just last year, the company had celebrated record revenue growth, having opened 23 new juice bars in existing markets during 2022.
Social media pages for the cafe’s stores across Sydney are now marked as “permanently closed”, leading fans to air their grievances online.
Sydney-based TikToker Emily Tiaz said she was left “devastated” by her local store’s closure on Pitt St.
“Joe & The Juice, are you coming back to Sydney? Someone give me answers, I need to know.”
The last Google review left for the Pitt St store was more than three months ago.
With hundreds of locations across the globe, the store locator on the Joe & The Juice website was recently updated to reveal no stores are currently operating in Australia.
In its 2023 annual report, published in June, the company said it had 347 stores across Europe, the US, Asia and Oceania, including franchisees in the Middle East and South Korea.
Joe & The Juice employs nearly 3000 people worldwide.
Chief executive Thomas Nørøxe said moving forward the company will be focusing on “exploiting the potential” of its existing markets, namely in Europe and the US.
