100 Engineering Colleges in Karnataka to be linked with 100 leading IT Cos for skilling: Minister Priyank Kharge

BENGALURU: As part of Karnataka’s skilling programme, minister of Information Technology and Bio-technology Priyank Kharge said that 100 engineering colleges in different parts of Karnataka will be linked with 100 leading information technology companies.
Announcing this on Friday, after the second committee meeting of the Skill Advisory Committee for Emerging Technologies, the minister said this will prepare the younger generation for jobs in IT Companies by offering skill development training.
Kharge, who held discussions with the skill development minister, Dr Shran Prakash Patil, said there are plenty of jobs in animation, gaming, artificial intelligence, robotics, auto machines, drones and other areas. Hence, it was necessary to evolve a training programme for making the youth skill-ready to take up such jobs.
The final report on the Karnataka A-I (Academia – Industry) Super 100 Initiative is still in progress. Per the draft model, KSDC will identify high-quality skilling partners to impart skilling on emerging technologies.
As per a department source, the preliminary suggestion is to train 50,000 candidates by March 2024, but the numbers may exceed it.
Top executives of IT companies who attended the consultative committee meeting on Friday felt that youth with technical educational qualification if trained, could help make them ready for the jobs in the IT sector. They pointed out to a large demand for skilled workers.
