Offensive rookie of the year
You might want to start paying attention to Texans rookie C.J. Stroud. The 2023 NFL Draft’s No. 2 pick nestled his way between Mahomes and Brock Purdy in finishing with the third best EPA per dropback rate (via TruMedia) of the week following the Texans’ win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. This included an outstanding 0.89 rate against the blitz (No. 2 in Week 3). Stroud put up very good rates last week as well (0.14 EPA per dropback, 103.5 passer rating).
Defensive rookie of the year
Carter has been a force within the Eagles defensive line. He’s picked up 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and five total tackles (two of them for a loss) during his first three games. Carter ranks seventh in pressure percentage among 195 qualified pass rushers (minimum 36 pass rush snaps) with a 20.5 percent rate. That’s All-Pro level type pressure.
