2024 Ford Ranger prices hiked, features cut in Australia

Ford is increasing prices across most of its Ranger lineup from June 1, 2024, with hikes of up to $1250.

Only the entry-level XL variants have avoided a price rise, with all other models receiving a minimum increase of $250.

V6 Rangers, including the petrol-powered Raptor flagship, have been slugged with a $1250 increase.

“The price adjustments are consistent with the evaluation of market conditions we regularly undertake across our product portfolio, which take into consideration a number of different external factors such as currency and material cost considerations,” said a Ford Australia spokesperson.

The price increases come despite Ford removing some features for what it calls model year 2024.5.

Automatic high-beam has been removed from all bar the Platinum and Raptor, though it remains optional on the Wildtrak.

Ford has also removed Ford MyKey, a feature that allows you to program a maximum speed limit for other drivers among other settings, and dropped the Raptor’s optional beadlock capable wheels and decal pack.

These changes follow additions, however, that Ford announced earlier this year.

These include automatic stop/start for all BiTurbo and V6 models, as well as heavy-duty suspension for XL models.

The Flexible Rack System previously exclusive to the Ranger Platinum is now optional on the Sport and Wildtrak.

The sliding rack can be locked into one of five preset locations along the length of the Ranger’s tub.

You can now specify the Sport with it, deleting sports bar and load box access points; it’s also optional on the Wildtrak, removing the sailplane and box rails.

The XLS also now has the features of the Tow Pack and Tech Pack standard.

Pro Trailer Backup Assist is a $1650 option on the Ranger XLT and Sport and standard on the Wildtrak, Platinum and Raptor.

“The driver ‘steers’ the trailer via the outer ring of the drive mode controller on the centre console,” explained Ford advanced driver assist systems engineer Zack McIntyre.

“As the driver turns the dial, the steering wheel, which the driver doesn’t need to touch during the manoeuvre, turns to direct the trailer where it needs to go.”

The system is activated with the press of the trailer icon on the drive mode selector.
