The 2025 Yukon will be one of just a handful of non-minivan eight seaters sold in Australia

For years, American consumers have enjoyed a wide range of large SUVs and pickup trucks, a lineup that many other markets, including Australia, have missed out on. However, with the demise of Holden in the Australian market, GM has been introducing and selling a range of enticing new vehicles through its Specialty Vehicles division known as GMSV. The latest addition to this lineup will be the facelifted GMC Yukon.
Thanks to GMSV, we now have our best look yet at the spruced-up 2025 GMC Yukon, which is currently undergoing testing in Australia under light camouflage ahead of its late-2024 debut.

This marks GMSV’s first import of an SUV from its American lineup into Australia. It joins the Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and Chevrolet Corvette C8, both introduced locally in recent years. Unlike those models, which arrived in Australia a couple of years after their U.S. launch, the Yukon makes its debut with the 2025 model that was teased just earlier this week in AT4 form.
Images released by GMSV depict the 2025 GMC Yukon being tested in right-hand drive configuration under camouflage. It showcases an imposing front fascia highlighted by a sizable chrome grille and distinctive headlights adorned with striking LED daytime running lights. The camouflage extends to cover the remaining portions of the fascia, front quarter panels, and hood.
Local testing of the 2025 Yukon is ongoing. Similar to other GMSV offerings, it will not undergo right-hand drive assembly at the factory but will be remanufactured and converted in Australia. Additionally, it will be available for sale in New Zealand.
“The GMC Yukon has been at Premoso for a few months as we start gearing up the remanufacturing process,” GM Australia and New Zealand managing director Jess Bala said. “It’s exciting that another vehicle is joining the GMSV line-up – one that features a full complement of eight-seats and offers great towing capability. Vehicle development post-remanufacturing is progressing extremely well and we’re on track to deliver the new model to customers in first-half of 2025.”
The refreshed SUV that will spearhead GMC’s expansion into markets outside North America including China follows in the footsteps of its updated siblings, the Cadillac Escalade and Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban. Beyond the exterior revisions, it will also get a revamped interior with a new center stack dominated by a massive portrait-oriented infotainment screen featuriung an array of physical buttons on the bottom.
In the U.S., the current generation offers two gasoline engines: a 5.3-liter V8 producing 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, and a 6.2-liter V8 that generates 420 hp and 460 lb-ft. Additionally, there’s a 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-six with 277 hp and 460 lb-ft. While the two gasoline engines are expected to remain unchanged, similar to the 2025 Tahoe, the turbodiesel will undergo an overhaul, producing 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque.
