BHUBANESWAR: A drone centre of excellence will come up at IIM Sambalpur very soon. The national institute has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a tech start-up, IG Drones, for collaborative work in advanced applications of drone technology in business analytics, management strategies, and public policy.
IG Drones, an Odisha-based drone tech company, is part of the institute’s 100 Cube start-up initiative.Under this agreement, it will establish a drone centre of excellence at IIM Sambalpur’s Delhi campus. It will serve as a hub for research, innovation, and entrepreneurship in the drone technology space.
The company is poised to leverage this collaboration to further its mission of advancing drone technology and its applications.
IIM Sambalpur director Mahadeo Jaiswal said they will support the start-up to grow and become a £100 million company in the future. “Through the centre of excellence, IG Drones will provide training to different stakeholders and guide young minds to work in this sector. More research and innovation work will be done in this field,” he added.
Founder and CEO of IG Drones Bodhisattwa Sanghapriya said this MoU is a testament to their commitment to driving innovation and fostering advancement in the drone technology sector by partnering with leading IIM in India. “They can help companies and government departments to use drones for business purposes and good governance respectively. We will provide them drone-based services to solve their real-world problems,” he added.
He said his start-up has set up over 15 Centres of Excellence across India. It aims to build 1000 more such centres to empower the youth of the country with advanced drone technology. The firm has collaborated with multiple state governments, more than 100 public sector undertakings (PSUs), and leading multinational companies (MNCs) to offer a comprehensive range of drone-related services, he added.
