AIFF Secretary General shared a post on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, that read, “AFC President’s Recognition Award for Grassroots Football “Bronze” category #AFCAwards2022 Many congratulations to each of our stakeholders for their selfless work in growing our grassroots landscape. It is just a beginning. We will climb to win the Diamond Award.”

Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae was named the AFC Asian International Player of the Year, following a year in which he helped his previous club Napoli to the Scudetto title.

Saudi Arabian midfielder Salem Al Dawsari was crowned the 2022 AFC Player of the Year, and Australia’s Samantha Kerr took home the top honour in the women’s section.

Japan national team coach Hajime Moriyasu was named AFC Men’s Coach of the Year on the back of his side’s extraordinary performance at the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. While Shui Qingxia was named the AFC Women’s Coach of the Year.

A plethora of other awards were handed out on the day as Japan’s Kuryu Matsuki and Maika Hamano were named the men’s and women’s AFC Youth Player of the Year. Iran’s Moslem Oladghobad took home the AFC Futsal Player of the Year title.

Australia were presented with the AFC President’s Recognition Award for Grassroots Football in the gold category, and the Guam Football Association claimed the award in the silver category.

Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) was named the AFC Regional Association of the Year award. The Uzbekistan Football Association claimed the AFC Member Association of the Year Award in the platinum category and the Lebanese Football Association bagged the honour in the diamond category. Hong Kong took home the accolade in the gold category.
