Al-Hawal claims second place in the Lusail Trap competition

DOHA, April 22: The Trap Competition kicked off at the Lusail Shooting Ranges Complex in Doha, forming a pivotal part of the concluding World Shotgun Championships, serving as a pathway to the Summer Olympic Games (Paris 2024). The event spans until April 28, attracting 433 shooters from 82 countries.

In the women’s division, Maria Dmitrenko of Kazakhstan surged into the lead, notching a perfect score of 50 targets, split evenly with 25 in each round. Following closely, Shahad Al-Hawal from Kuwait claimed second place with 49 targets, while Celine Ali of Bulgaria tied for third place with an equal score. Augusta Martín Campos from Puerto Rico secured fourth place, with Alessandra Pirelli from San Marino rounding out the top five.

In the men’s category, seven shooters shared the top spot with flawless scores of 50 targets across both rounds, hitting 25 targets in each. Among them were Massimo Fabrizi from Italy, William Hinton from the United States, Ali Hosseinli from Azerbaijan, Aryan Kumi from Albania, Bostjan Masek from Slovenia, Alexander Hagio Topacio from the Philippines, and Yu Haisheng from China.
