Comedian Andy Lee has shared the disgusting treasure trove he uncovered while starting renovation on his 19th-century house.
The 42-year-old Melbournian, who is one half of the comic duo Hamish and Andy, took to social media on Tuesday to post an update on the renovations to a river property built in 1876.
The popular TV presenter bought Ravenswood, an old house, with his partner Rebecca Harding in 2021, and the pair have just begun work to restore it.
Lee was shocked when he decided to examine the state of the building’s ceiling and see if there were any “treasures” inside.
To his horror, he discovered mountains of pigeon faeces.
He posted on Instagram, alongside a photo of himself up a ladder, “I checked whether there were any hidden treasures in the ceiling today.”“If you consider pigeon poo treasure, there was heaps of treasure!! HEAPS!!”
The next two images showed the nose-pinching discovery among the ceiling rafters.
Some of the rafters have been left exposed after the two chimneys were removed and never replaced, allowing the birds to take over.
Shocked followers took the comments with their reaction to his find.
One follower said, “I hope you had a mask on. Pigeons are the top carrier of viruses!”
Another said: “Amazing! Can’t wait to see it finished.”
Another fan left quite a literal comment: “Holy sh.t!”
When the lovers bought the heritage-listed property, it had no electricity, running water, or grass growing through it.
It has been left in a deteriorating state for more than two decades but that is set to change at the hands of the two DIYers.
