Australian actress Teresa Palmer has shocked fans after revealing a devastating loss.
The 38-year-old shared a video to Instagram on Friday documenting the moment she found out she was pregnant for the fifth time, until the devastating loss of the baby 10 weeks later.
The actress is known for her roles in I Am Number Four, Ride Like a Girl, and 2:22.
Palmer posted the video to her followers showing moments full of love and excitement as she passed around her pregnancy test, and then the heartbreaking moment when she found out she had lost the baby.
The mother of five told her 1.2 million followers on Instagram that “it feels really good” to be able to share her story.
Palmer added she felt “honoured and grateful to have been able to carry this little soul, my fifth baby, in my heart and body for the past three months.”
The actress is a dedicated mum to her children: Bodhi Rain, Forest Sage, Poet Lake, and Prairie Moon, which she shares with her American husband Mark Webber.
She is also a loving stepmother to Marks’s son, Isaac Love.
Palmer shared a full breakdown of the situation on her podcast The Mother Daze.
The episode was just over an hour long and full of emotion with many teary moments.
While sharing her story Palmer said she knew she had lost the baby before she had the official appointment.
She describes driving to the scan appointment with the feeling she was going to get bad news, “I didn’t have confirmation apart from the feeling in my heart; I just knew, and I remember just lying there, and I felt so out of my body because I knew what I was about to see or not see”.
She said that after the appointment, she buckled her two girls into their car seats and called her husband.
“I called Mark, and I just said it’s not good news it’s bad news babe.”
“He burst into tears immediately.”
The community support has been essential in Teresa’s life over the last few weeks.
“Brimming with gratitude for my people who have held me close during this time,” she wrote in an Instagram post.
The stoic actress said her heart goes out to anyone who knows or has experienced the pain of a pregnancy loss.
