Big change coming as Monday and Wednesday Lotto becomes Weekday Windfall

A major change is coming to Lotto, with a new opportunity for customers to win.

From Monday, May 20, the Monday and Wednesday Lotto — also known as Monday and Wednesday Gold Lotto in Queensland and Monday and Wednesday X Lotto in South Australia — will change into a single lottery game called Weekday Windfall.

A new Friday draw will also be added to Weekday Windfall, providing customers three chances to win each week.

The division one prize has also been changed from $1 million for up to four division one winners to $1 million for up to six winners.

Weekday Windfall draw results will continue to be distributed after 8.30pm AEST each Monday, Wednesday and Friday once the draw has been conducted.

The chances of winning any prize — including the division one prize — in the Weekday Windfall game remain the same as those currently offered by the Monday and Wednesday Lotto game.

Massive Gold Coast win

A Gold Coast woman won $1 million in last week’s Monday and Wednesday Gold Lotto draw.

She had been using the same numbers since she was 18.

In addition to her division one win, the Broadbeach woman also won division three a massive six times — bringing her total winnings to $1,002,239.80.

The woman said she felt numb when she heard the news.

“I checked my ticket last night and I was in complete shock,” she said. “The whole family was.”

“I kept thinking: ‘This can’t be real; this can’t be real!’

“I couldn’t sleep at all.”

She waited patiently for The Lott officials to call her, even taking the day off work because she knew she wouldn’t be able to focus.

“It’s funny, I’ve been playing these same numbers since I was 18,” she said.

“I hardly know why I picked them. I just remember I won a bit on them once, so I liked them and kept using them.

“For years, I haven’t won anything with them, hardly a couple of dollars. I was starting to think I needed to change it up!”

The woman said she wanted to spread the winnings around and pay off her mortgage, but would hopefully get some travel in as well.

“My husband has been doing tough work his whole life,” she said.

“He works so hard, so I think this will help him retire, which I’m honestly happiest about because he deserves it!”
