Bill to make abortion legal without parental consent for under 16s to be introduced to State Parliament

Teenagers aged under 16 will be able to have abortions without having to tell their parent or guardian under proposed legislative changes being introduced in State Parliament next week.

Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson says WA is the only jurisdiction in Australia where minors, regardless of their maturity, are required to meet a higher standard of informed consent for abortions compared with other medical care.
