The drugs were also taken by 15 British would-be lovers who then died — and one man had to have his penis amputated.

All the recorded incidents have happened since 2018, when Viagra and other drugs based on it became available at pharmacies without prescription.

There is no conclusive proof the pills caused the side-effects, but all incidents are logged by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency watchdog under its Yellow Card scheme — to look for unwanted trends.

It released the information after a Freedom of Information request by The Sun.

One man said he was left with a kink in his manhood in a condition called Peyronie’s disease.

Fourteen others had alleged sideeffects of either pain, bending or unwanted swelling.

Another three claimed the drug gave them priapism, a condition which leaves male members standing to attention for many hours.

There was no further details of why one man had his penis amputated.

Two other men “fractured” their manhoods.

There were a total of 678 alleged side-effects logged.

Viagra was launched in 1998 by drugs giant Pfizer and came out of patent in the UK in 2013, meaning other manufacturers could produce pills containing active ingredient sildenafil.

The law on prescribing the medication was later relaxed partly because so many men were buying pills which turned out to be fake.

Many contained health damaging ingredients.
