A BMW driver has admitted killing two friends in a horror crash as they returned home from a Christmas shopping trip.
Ellie Crossley and Rebecca Doughty, both 20, were in a silver Citroen when they collided with Benjamin Lewis.
Tragically, the pair couldn’t be saved and were declared dead shortly after the horror in Chester.
Lewis, 30, appeared at Chester Crown Court today where he admitted causing death by dangerous driving.
He was due to go on trial in September but changed his plea after previously admitting a lesser charge.
Ellie and Rebecca were driving home from a shopping trip in November 2021 when the tragedy unfolded.
Lewis was rescued from his own car by firefighters and taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A tribute from the girls’ families said: “Ellie Crossley, from Holywell, and Rebecca Doughty, of Connah’s Quay, were lifelong friends.
“The girls, both aged 20, were travelling home from a Christmas shopping trip when they were tragically involved in a fatal road traffic collision.
“Both families, and their friends, have been left truly devastated by this tragic event and will sadly miss them.
“Close friends for their short lives, they will be in our hearts forever.”
Lewis, of Neston, Cheshire, was handed unconditional bail until his sentencing on April 29.
