Bodybuilder dies aged 33 after horrific weightlifting accident

A bodybuilder has died after a horrific weightlifting accident in Bali.

Justyn Vicky, 33, was lifting weights at The Paradise Gym last Saturday, squatting with a weight of more than 180 kilograms as a spotter watched on behind him, Bali Discovery reported.

The publication claims tragedy then struck as Vicky “failed to complete the lift and fell forward”.

The weight reportedly snapped Vicky’s head forward, breaking his neck. Bali Discovery reports the bodybuilder was rushed to hospital but could not be revived.

The Paradise Bali Gym mourned Vicky in a statement on Instagram, describing him as “a beacon of inspiration, motivation, and unwavering support”.

“His infectious energy and genuine passion for helping others transform their lives touched us deeply,” the gym said.

“Through countless workouts, words of encouragement, and compassionate guidance, he became an irreplaceable part of our fitness journeys and our gym family.

“Every session with Justyn felt like much more than just exercise.”

The gym added Vicky always created “a nurturing environment”.

“His belief in our potential pushed us beyond our limits, empowering us to discover new-found strength and resilience within ourselves,” they said.
