The disease results in a stretching and thinning of the heart muscle.

She has been on the waiting list since the day after the last Valentine’s Day and is desperate to get home to Middlesbrough and big brother Theo, five.

But she put on a brave face in a Disney dress and at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital.

Last year, Evie was hooked up to a device on Theo’s fifth birthday — and was too ill to even know it was his special occasion.

Evie suffered a cardiac arrest as she was attached to the heart device and was in intensive care for three weeks.

She was so unwell, the usually-inseparable pair had to wait weeks before they could see each other.

Mum Chloe, 28, who lives in Middlesbrough with bar manager husband David, 35, said at the time: “Evie keeps asking for a new heart so she can come home to Theo.

“She’s desperate to get back to him.

“They are best friends, and have the most incredibly strong bond. She follows him around like a little shadow.”
