Britney Spears Briefly Deactivates Instagram Ahead of Memoir Release: “See You In Hell”

Spears has been airing her feelings on her Instagram in recent days as early excerpts and leaks from the memoir are made public. In a post on Saturday, Spears wrote that (sic throughout) “My book’s purpose was not to offend anyone by any means !!! That was me then … that is in the past !!! I don’t like the headlines I am reading …” She shared that she saw releasing the book as the setup for “a beautiful clean slate from here,” and that “This is actually a book I didn’t know needed to be written …although some might be offended, it has given me closure on all things for a better future !!!”

On Friday, she shared her first-time author anxieties alongside another of Blue’s photographs, saying in her caption that “there are so many hard things to read in the news about my book.”

Indeed, the revelations about Spears’ past have made headlines, from insights into her relationship with Justin Timberlake, the abortion that she had in the early 2000s when she became pregnant and Timberlake said he “didn’t want to be a father,” her two-week fling with actor Colin Farrell, life under the decade-plus-long legal conservatorship in which her father had control over all aspects of her life, her brief acting career, and more.

The book hits shelves Tuesday, with an audiobook narrated by actor Michelle Williams releasing simultaneously.

Representatives for Britney Spears and Marta Blue did not immediately return requests for comment.
