HOLLISTER – A Los Banos couple with a baby on the way chose the next best option when they couldn’t make it to a hospital in time: a Cal Fire station.
The couple pulled into the Cal Fire Santa Clara Unit’s Pacheco Station on State Route 152 when the mother started to experience contractions around 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Cal Fire said in a social media post.
Firefighters and engineers sprang into action and safely delivered the baby, the fire agency said.
“The delivery proceeded smoothly with no complications, and a healthy baby boy was born at 7:04 a.m.,” Cal Fire said.
“This is a prime example of how Cal Fire’s team responds to all manner of emergencies,” the fire agency continued, “ensuring the well-being of the community.”
When a northern California couple with a baby on the way couldn’t make it to the hospital this morning, @calfireSCU personnel stepped up. Realizing they couldn’t make it to the hospital, the couple decided the nearest fire station would be their next best alternative.
