College football Week 6 odds, schedule: Texas-Oklahoma takes center stage

Despite some big games having already taken place, the national title picture feels only slightly clearer than it was at the start of the season. There are 17 undefeated teams in Power 5 conferences and other one-loss contenders like the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (and maybe still the Alabama Crimson Tide). There is no clear No. 1, or even a small top tier of contenders. Week 6 of the college football season features three matchups with undefeated teams going head-to-head.

The marquee game of the week is the Red River Rivalry, where the Texas Longhorns take on the Oklahoma Sooners in Dallas. Texas is favored by more than a field goal after blowing away Kansas, which was without starting quarterback Jalon Daniels. Neither team has played a one-score game yet, although Texas did trail early in the fourth quarter at Alabama.

Also in the early window, the Ohio State Buckeyes take on the surprising 5-0 Maryland Terrapins. Maryland’s 5-0 record isn’t a surprise considering the Terps have been favored in every game so far. What is a bit surprising is how dominant they’ve been. Maryland has covered the spread against all three Power 5 opponents it has faced, beating Virginia, Michigan State and Indiana all by more than three touchdowns. That trio is among the worst P5 teams, but Maryland has taken care of business. Ohio State is still favored by more than two touchdowns in Columbus.

The SEC has the third 5-0 vs. 5-0 matchup of the week with the Kentucky Wildcats going on the road to take on the Georgia Bulldogs. After getting off to slow starts in each of its three non-conference games, Kentucky has turned it up in SEC play. The Wildcats blew away Vanderbilt and Florida, covering the spread in both games. Meanwhile, Georgia has labored in wins against South Carolina and Auburn. Georgia is still a big favorite in Athens, but this team has not looked like the juggernaut it was each of the last two years.

Six AP top 25 teams are on bye this week (No. 6 Penn State, No. 7 Washington, No. 8 Oregon, No. 18 Utah, No. 19 Duke, No. 22 Tennessee).

Here are the odds for every game featuring an AP Top 25 team, plus a few other notable games taking place in Week 6.
