Cyclist repeatedly damages several cars in Brisbane keying sprees

A cyclist has been caught on camera keying several cars in broad daylight on a street in Brisbane’s inner south, and it’s reportedly not the first time he’s done it.

Woolloongabba resident Mick Brown claimed the same cars had been targeted multiple times in recent months, with the culprit being caught on CCTV keying three vehicles on Hubert Street last September.

Mr Brown, whose vehicle was one of the three keyed, told The Courier Mail that the incident had cost him and the other two owners more than $10,000 in repairs.

CCTV footage shows the man ride past the parked vehicles before returning 30 seconds later holding a sharp object on a lanyard.

He rode past the parked cars again with the object and lanyard in hand, using it to scratch the vehicles before fleeing as another car approached.

Mr Brown claimed the culprit keyed the cars again in December after all repairs were completed, and then damaged the cars for a third time on May 5, 2024.

“While these appear to be targeted attacks neither myself nor the other victim know or recognise this person … he needs to be stopped,” Mr Brown wrote in a post to the ‘Qld Crime’ Facebook group.

No charges have been laid yet over the incidents.
