Daily Show’s Jordan Klepper Booed After Predicting Trump Win

The Daily Show’s Jordan Klepper earned boos from a Comedy Central crowd on Monday after declaring Donald Trump will be the “next president.”

Klepper highlighted what he described as a “class Trump beauty pageant” at Mar-a-Lago, referring to a recent event where Trump met with potential vice presidential picks for his 2024 campaign. The comedian mocked the event and moved into the former president’s hush money trial in Manhattan, but dropped a hammer on his unsuspecting audience when he declared none of these events receiving his mockery would hurt Trump’s chances in November.

Klepper referred to Trump as a “toddler” when discussing his most recent gag order violation. Judge Juan Merchan threatened to potentially put Trump behind bars if he continues violating his gag order. It was his 10th time being found in criminal contempt during his trial where he’s accused of falsifying business records to cover up an alleged affair. Trump has denied all wrongdoing.

“Donald Trump has the mind of a toddler. If there’s one thing a toddler understands, it’s that when mom and dad start counting like, nine, nine and a half, nine and three quarters, the brat has already won,” Klepper said.

Going to jail wouldn’t even hurt Trump’s chances at the White House, the comedian added.

“Whether Trump is thrown in jail for a few days over the gag order or thrown in jail for a few years, he’s still…going to be the next president,” he said.

A light laughter turned to boos in the audience and Klepper doubled down before moving to the next segment.

“Look at the polls, everybody!” he said.

President Joe Biden does lead in some polls, like a Harvard poll last month showing voters ages 30 and below prefer Biden by a 13% margin. An ABC poll conducted a the end of April also showed Biden leading Trump among likely voters. Trump, however, has found a number of recent polls leaning in his favor despite his current legal woes. He leads by 6% in a CNN poll conducted around the same time, and a Wall Street Journal poll last month showed him leading Biden in six of seven swing states. An Emerson College survey last month also saw him leading in seven swing states.
