Dennard Wilson expected to take Titans defensive coordinator job

It looks like the Giants can cross one name off their list to fill their defensive coordinator vacancy.

The Titans are hiring Ravens defensive backs coach Dennard Wilson as their new defensive coordinator, ESPN first reported.

The Post’s Ryan Dunleavy reported that Wilson, 41, was interviewed a second time by the Giants — the only known candidate to do so — on Saturday after Chiefs linebackers coach Brendan Daly became another candidate to possibly fill Big Blue’s coordinator role.

The Rams, according to Dunleavy, were among the teams who also had a chance to get Wilson, but he will instead join a Tennessee team that hired former Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan as its new head coach last week.

Wilson will try to help bolster a Titans defense that ranked 16th in the NFL in points allowed per game (21.6) this past season.

A former defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator with the Jets (2017-20), Wilson joined the Ravens in 2023 after a stint with the Eagles and helped them improve immensely at defending the pass.

After Baltimore ranked toward the bottom third of the league with over 232 passing yards allowed per game in 2022, the Ravens shored up that part of the game in 2023, ranking fifth in the NFL in yielding 191.9 passing yards per game.

Though the Giants missed out on Wilson, they are expected to name Wink Martindale’s replacement in the near future, The Post’s Paul Schwartz reported Tuesday.

“[Brian Daboll] is working through that right now,’’ general manager Joe Schoen said Tuesday at the site of the Senior Bowl. “Hopefully by the end of the week we’ll have some resolution at the defensive coordinator position. A lot of good candidates that Dabes interviewed, and we’re excited about some of the finalists.’’

Along with Daly, Dolphins linebackers coach Anthony Campanile and Giants defensive backs coach Jerome Henderson are among the candidates for the job.

Former defensive coordinators Shane Bowen and Derrick Ansley have also met with Daboll.
