Dinner SOS: I Need Nut-Free Recipe Riffs on My Favorite Restaurant Dishes

ON THIS WEEK’S episode of Dinner SOS, food director and host Chris Morocco and food editor Shilpa Uskokovic are here to help caller Liah. She recently found out she’s allergic to nuts, and she’s looking for ways to enjoy her most beloved restaurant dishes while staying safe. Chris and Shilpa step in to help her find ways to recreate her take-out faves at home.

Liah is no amateur in the kitchen (she even agrees to make her own chili crisp!) and is ready to turn her kitchen into the restaurants she misses most for her and her friends. Chris offers up a recipe for Chicken Khao Soi that leans into a homemade curry paste for flavor without having to worry about allergens in a store-bought brand. For a vegetarian like Liah, Chris says tofu or even chickpeas would work great in place of chicken.

Shilpa’s picks? An Eggplant Biryani and Tofu and Green Pea Curry, both flavor-packed—and vegetarian—ways to feed a large group. Listen now to hear how Liah tackles her nut-free restaurant feast. She’s such a pro that she makes both dishes in the same night with a little help from Chris and Shilpa.
