Disneyland Resort Reveals New Pixar Place Hotel

Disneyland is getting a dramatic transformation converting its Paradise Pier Hotel into a Pixar-themed hotel ready to open for business at the end of January. Last month, Disney revealed plans to double the investment in its theme parks by $60 billion over the next 10 years including expansions at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom parks, including potential new lands devoted to “Indiana Jones,” “Encanto” and “Zootopia.”

The Pixar Place Hotel at the Southern California theme park will be the “first fully Pixar-themed hotel in the United States,” according to Disney, and will be part of the expansion of DisneylandForward, the company’s 30-year plan for expansion and innovation in the area. Magical, inclusive, diverse experiences for everyone.

“Pixar Place Hotel will evoke the inspiration and humor that goes into every Pixar film, while celebrating the artistic process,” according to Disney. “Showcasing early sketches to finished design, the art and decor will highlight vibrant Pixar stories, revealing some never-before-seen artwork.”

The lobby will be positioned within a giant version of the Pixar famed Lamp teetering on top of its ball, with famed Pixar characters floating above. The company wants the installation to depict the beginning stages of Pixar filmmaking, when animators create the characters’ designs with their most basic shapes and colors. Numerous Pixar-themed elements including outdoor fire pits modeled after “hotheaded Pixar characters,” and a Stor-E retail shop will be also be a highlight

Guest rooms will feature concept art headboards, from iconic shows like The Incredibles and Toy Story 3, and each room will include a version of the famed Pixar lamp.

The rooftop will include a Finding Nemo-themed splash pad and pool area. The Pixel Pool will have extensive lounge areas and also Nemo’s Cove, a pop-jet splash pad. The main attraction for kids will likely be Crush’s Surfin’ Slide, a 186-foot-long water slide inspired by the cool character from the film.

The hotel’s Great Maple restaurant will open on the ground floor in November, followed a few weeks later by the Sketch Pad Café coffee shop and the Small Bytes rooftop pool bar, according to Disney.

Disneyland recently revealed The Villas at Disneyland Hotel at the Disneyland Resort, which is the 4th and newest tower available to guests staying at the Disneyland Hotel. There will be 344 themed rooms as part of the new development where the worlds of “Sleeping Beauty,” “Fantasia” and “The Princess and the Frog” come to life.

Other theme parks are following suit with massive new developments including Universal Studios, with the new Epic Universe Park in Orlando opening in 2025. Iy will feature 110 acres of attractions and will house lands devoted to “Harry Potter,” “How to Train Your Dragon,” Universal Monsters, Nintendo and more.
