Demons singer Doja Cat – who is the daughter of South African veteran actor Dumisani Dlamini – made a striking entrance at the Met Gala 2024.
DOJA CAT WEARS NOTHING BUT A TOWEL FOR THE MET GALA 2024
The 28-year-old Grammy award-winning musician arrived at the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City draped in a chic body towel and hair towel ensemble.
Whilst standing outside the Mark Hotel, Doja Cat was pictured on the red carpet with a white towel wrapped around herself, complemented by a hair towel accessorised with shimmering silver jewellery and clear platformed heels.
Doja Cat’s look caused quite the stir on social media, with one X user saying she “should’ve stayed in her bathroom.”

The theme for the Met Gala was “The Garden of Time” for the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibition.
Once Doja Cat had “slipped out” of her VETEMENTS towel dress, she changed into an extra-long, soaking wet t-shirt gown.
Her look is in line with what she has been rocking as of late — which includes a plastic wrap dress and a linen bed sheet.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, she said: “I know that people were going to do flowers, so my flower of choice was the most-used flower, and it’s cotton.”
The Paint The Town Red hitmaker added that she went with a white t-shirt because it is timeless and it felt very poetic to choose it.
“I know it was not going to blend in too much, and I don’t really like to blend in,” she said, adding that she was drenched in hair gel to keep her dress wet.
In her August 2023 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Doja Cat said she is at a point where she picks out the most “random and weird” clothing items from her closet.
“I’m in this kind of chaotic place right now when it comes to fashion, where I’ve just been going into my closet and picking out the most random, weird, not-fitting thing to mix with another thing that does not really fit. It’s like mashed potatoes. But I’m embracing that,” she said.
“It’s a little punk. It’s experimental for sure. It’s very manic. But I am going in a darker direction when it comes to visuals and fashion. I have a lot of pent-up feelings and anger, and I want to express it with beauty.”
