DU Admissions 2024: The wait is over for aspiring Delhi University students! The race for admission is set to begin with the online application process kicking off on April 25th. This announcement comes from Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh, who addressed the media at the Vice Regal Lodge on Friday.
Phased Application Process for Different Programmes
The application portal will open its doors in two phases:
Phase 1: Masters Programs (April 25th – May 25th)
Students seeking admission to postgraduate courses can register between April 25th and May 25th.Details regarding the second phase of application for postgraduate programs will be announced subsequently.
Phase 2 (To Be Announced): Undergraduate Programmes
Applications for undergraduate programs, including BA LLB, BBA LLB, and B.Tech, are expected to start in mid-May. The exact date will be confirmed in due course.
New Programmes Offered for Postgraduate Studies
Prof. Haneet Gandhi, Dean of Admissions, provided details about the postgraduate programs on offer. This year, DU will be accepting applications for 13,500 postgraduate seats, including those offered through the National Consortium for Web Courses (NCWeb). Additionally, exciting new programs are being introduced at the postgraduate level, including MA Hindu Studies, MA Public Health, MA Chinese Studies, MA Korean Studies, and Master of Fine Arts. These new options cater to students with diverse academic interests.
Focus on Streamlining the Admission Process
Prof. Singh emphasized the university’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and hassle-free admission process for students. Building upon the successes of last year, concrete arrangements are being implemented to address any potential problems that may have arisen previously. The goal is to create a streamlined process that minimizes student difficulties.
Prof. Gandhi elaborated on the next steps for postgraduate applicants. Following the release of the CUET PG exam results, students who applied through the DU PG portal will be required to enroll online. They will be given a one-month window to complete this enrollment process.
With the application dates announced and new programs on the horizon, Delhi University is gearing up to welcome a fresh batch of talented students. The focus on sustainability, improved rankings, and a streamlined admission process positions DU as a leading choice for higher education in India.
DU Shines in Sustainability Rankings
While announcing the admission details, Prof. Singh also highlighted Delhi University’s impressive performance in global rankings. DU has secured the top position in India for sustainability in the QS World University Rankings, a significant improvement from its fourth-place finish last year. This achievement reflects the university’s commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable practices.
Furthermore, Dean Ranking Mukesh Mahlawat shared that two of DU’s departments hold the top rank within the country. Additionally, DU’s position in the QS World University Rankings (Sustainability) has seen a remarkable rise, jumping from 381-400 in 2023 to a commendable 220 in 2024. This upward trajectory signifies DU’s growing global recognition in sustainability efforts.
