“He will be missed. He fought hard his whole life. Prayers to his family,” Engelhard said.

There had been premature reports that Williams passed away last week when he was placed on life support after suffering injuries while doing electrical work.

Williams was reportedly doing construction work in Hillsborough County, Fla., on Aug. 21 when a steel beam fell on his head.

A GoFundMe page set up by Williams’ family described the head injury as “massive,” and said that there was “swelling on his brain and swelling on his spinal cord that was ruptured.”

He was rushed to the ICU after passing out on Sept. 1, according to the GoFundMe page, and was induced into a coma on Sept. 3.

Williams played for the Buccaneers and Bills from 2010-14.

A Syracuse product, he was selected by Tampa Bay in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft and started 52 of the 54 games he appeared in for the team.

Williams had 223 catches for 3,089 yards and 26 touchdowns in his five-year career.

He finished second in the 2010 AP Offensive Rookie of the Year voting to former Rams quarterback Sam Bradford.

Williams is survived by a 10-year-old son, Mike Jr., an 8-year-old daughter, Mya, and her mother, Tierney Lyle.
