Former Queensland police officer charged with over 70 historical sex offences

A former Queensland police officer has been charged with more than 70 historical sexual assault offences, allegedly committed while he was an officer.

The offences are alleged to have occurred in two residences on the Gold Coast between 1995 and 2002.

The 75-year-old man has been charged with 72 offences, including 66 counts of indecent treatment of children, four counts of rape and two counts of common assault.

He will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court in August.
