Fury as video shows Met cop insisting swastikas ‘need to be taken in context’ at pro-Palestine march

THE Met Police have been blasted after a video showed an officer insisting swastikas “need to be taken in context” at a pro-Palestine protest.

In the clip, a distressed Jewish woman is seen in London on Saturday complaining about the Nazi symbol on placards comparing Israel’s Gaza offensive to the Holocaust.

But an officer says: “I haven’t said anything about it, that it is or it isn’t.

“Everything needs to be taken in context.”

The Campaign Against Antisemitism called the clip “gobsmacking”.

It added: “The notion a police officer could imagine a context in which the Nazi swastika is acceptable is distressing.”

The force said the officer made clear earlier in the video the placard holder had been arrested.

It added: “A number of people were arrested for hate crimes, public order and terrorist offences.”
