The report, released on Tuesday, offers a detailed overview of Gap Inc.’s progress in the fiscal year 2023, highlighting key initiatives aimed at driving positive environmental and social impact across its portfolio of brands, including Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, and Athleta.

Notably, Gap Inc. reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable sourcing, with 98% of cotton utilized sourced from more sustainable sources, and significant progress in renewable energy adoption, with 58% of electricity used in company-operated facilities derived from renewable sources as of 2022.

Among the initiatives undertaken by Gap Inc. and its partners in 2023 was the launch of the Women + Water Collaborative, an initiative aimed at improving access to clean water and sanitation in India, and the establishment of the Global Water Innovation Centre for Action in partnership with Arvind Limited, focusing on driving innovations in water stewardship.

Additionally, the company introduced Rise, a collaborative effort aimed at accelerating gender equity across the apparel supply chain, in partnership with organizations such as BSR HERproject, Care, and Better Work.

Other key highlights from the report include empowering over 2.5 million individuals in the apparel industry to improve their access to clean water and sanitation since 2017, and the successful implementation of Old Navy’s This Way ONward program, which has provided invaluable skills and opportunities to over 19,600 youth since its inception in 2007.

“When Don and Doris Fisher opened the very first Gap store in 1969, they bridged the generation gap with clothing and experiences that spoke to an energetic new idealism” said Gap Inc. CEO Richard Dickson.

“Today, 55 years later, the people of Gap Inc. are still bridging gaps, inspired by our shared humanity, to create a better world. A world where purpose and profit co-exist in pathbreaking ideas that better the wellbeing of people and planet.”
