Giants’ Saquon Barkley catches touchdown on wheel route

Observations from Thursday’s Giants camp:

Barkley balling

Saquon Barkley had Bobby Okereke needing a map trying to cover him during 1-on-1 drills.

Barkley beat Okereke badly on a wheel route, catching a roughly 30-yard touchdown pass down the left sideline.

Their next rep, Barkley lost Okereke again with a route over the middle before hauling in a one-handed grab.

Snap to it

Lining up in shotgun during 11-on-11’s, Daniel Jones dropped a snap from rookie center John Michael Schmitz, which appeared to be a bit low.

The two messed up a similar snap on Tuesday as well.

The Giants’ second-round pick, Schmitz is battling for the starting job.

Caught my eye

Praise for TE Darren Waller and his physique is seemingly endless around the Giants.

But Micah McFadden, who is battling for playing time at inside linebacker, covered Waller stride-for-stride down the field during 11-on-11s, breaking up a deep pass over the top that would have gone for a touchdown.

Injury report

DE Ryder Anderson left practice holding his right arm in pain after he was blocked to the ground by G Mark Glowinski, who ended up on top of him.

DT Leonard Williams and WR Paris Campbell were given veteran rest/maintenance days and did not practice.
