Chelsea Lavezzo’s second-half goal proved to be the difference as Jackson Memorial defeated Monmouth 1-0 in the Shore Conference Tournament – Group 3 in Jackson.
Renee Wanzor recorded an assist on the deciding goal for Jackson Memorial (6-1) while Gianna Berkley made five saves to secure the shutout.
Amanda Growney recorded 10 saves for Monmouth (3-3).
The win was a part of group play for the newly formatted Shore Conference Tournament. Colts Neck and Donovan Catholic are also part of the group. The teams will play in a round-robin style schedule where the first and second-place teams will advance.
