Police have charged a 36-year-old man over his alleged involvement in the Girrawheen home invasion after his dramatic arrest on Sunday morning.

A public appeal was launched by WA Police to locate 36-year-old Joel Leslie Painter — who is believed to be the final outstanding person linked to the April 16 home invasion.

Police say grandmother Ninette Simons, 73, and her husband Philip Simons, 76, were attacked during the horrific ordeal.

It is alleged a trio conned their way into the couple’s home by acting as police before beating the 73-year-old and stealing $200,000 worth of jewellery.

Police had already charged three people — including former immigration detainee Majid Jamshidi Doukoshkan — over their alleged involvement in the attack.

Earlier on Sunday police said they had arrested Mr Painter, a former boxer, in Mirrabooka.

Ms Simons said one of the men tried to put handcuffs on her before she was allegedly punched in the face by another person.

Doukoshkan — a Kuwait born man — faced Perth Magistrates Court in February charged with two counts of failing to comply with a requirement of monitoring conditions.

He was granted bail over the incident before his alleged involvement in the Girrawheen attack.
