A man who googled the lyrics to Eric Clapton’s ‘Motherless Child’ after strangling his mother to death has lost a bid to get out of jail early.
Dario Biljuh appeared before the Court of Criminal Appeal on Friday to contest his conviction for violently murdering his mother Laura in 2014.
He was found guilty of strangling the 70-year-old woman to death in her Villawood home on Valentine’s Day.
The then-43-year-old crept into his mother’s house carrying a Fitness First backpack which contained rope, a knife and a roll of duct tape.
After violently strangling Mrs Biljuh to death, he bound her hands and feet with the silver tape and covered her entire face.
The sentencing judge noted the elderly woman had been left in a “gruesome and dehumanised state” for her older son to find.
After a weeks-long Supreme Court trial, Biljuh was sentenced to three decades behind bars for the grisly killing.
He launched an appeal against his conviction, however that was dismissed by the Court of Criminal Appeal on Friday.
More to come.
