Guidelines issued for CBSE Board practical exams 2024 for private students

The Central Board Of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released comprehensive guidelines for the conduct of practical examinations for private students for the academic year 2023-24. These guidelines aim to streamline the assessment process for students across various categories, ensuring fairness and transparency in the examination system.
Examination Categories and Requirements
The CBSE guidelines specify the examination requirements for private students falling under different categories.Students from the year 2023, who couldn’t obtain practical marks due to reasons like Repeat in Practical (RP), Repeat in Theory & Practical Both (RB), or absence, are required to undergo practical examinations. Similarly, students from 2022 facing similar situations must appear for these practicals. Additionally, students from 2021 and earlier years, who have applied in the Private Category for full subjects, need to undertake practical assessments in their respective subjects.
Assessment Procedure
It’s noteworthy that no Project Assessment or Internal Assessment will be conducted for subjects lacking a practical component. Instead, marks for these assessments will be calculated proportionately based on theory exam scores obtained in 2024.
Examination Schedule and Venue
Practical examinations are scheduled to be conducted from February 15 to March 15, 2024, at the examination centres designated for theory exams. External examiners for all Class XI students will be appointed by the Regional Offices, while internal examiners will be chosen by the centre superintendent from their school teachers.
Appointment of External Examiners
External Examiners for Class-XII students will be appointed by CBSE’s Regional Offices, while internal examiners will be selected by centre superintendents from their school’s teaching staff. In the absence of suitable teachers, external examiners from nearby schools will be appointed.
