Hollywood Drift rollercoaster to let you live out Fast and Furious fantasies

A new rollercoaster under construction at Universal Studios in California will let riders feel like they’re in the Fast and Furious movie franchise.

The coaster, set to open as Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift in 2026, is designed to replicate the drifting seen in many of the franchise’s race scenes in a unique immersive experience.

As most people don’t often get to drift in real life, the ride is intended to be a way to mimic the thrill with no legal or physical risk.

KTLA 5 News reports the coaster will be the first high-speed outdoor thrill ride at Universal Studios Hollywood, and will take riders through a series of banked turns and inversions (including a loop) in cars that can rotate 360 degrees to replicate drifting.

Visitors will also queue in a red-brick building designed to replicate a garage, while the ride has been designed to limit noise impacts on nearby homes with half-pipe shields and special tracks.

Universal Studios Hollywood already offers a Fast and Furious studio tour, though that isn’t a rollercoaster and is instead an immersive experience that utilises the studio’s tour tram.
