Hong Kong crane operator killed after being struck on head by metal bars

A crane operator was killed on Monday when a load of metal bars fell on him in a storage yard in Hong Kong.

The man, 32, was using a crane truck to move a bundle of bars in an open area of the yard on Kam Tin Road in Pat Heung before 6pm.

The bars came loose and he was struck on the head by some.

He suffered head injuries and was taken unconscious to Pok Oi Hospital in Yuen Long but was declared dead later.

Police and the Labour Department have launched investigations.
