She urged travellers to keep toothbrushes packed away in their suitcases when staying at a hotel.

“Here is why you should not be rude to hotel staff or act like a total ‘Karen’ your entire stay,” she said in a TikTok video.

“When turning your room while you’re staying at a hotel, I have heard that housekeeper who cleans certain areas in bathrooms with a guest’s toothbrush… and you don’t want to have that near your mouth.

“Keep your toothbrush packed away just to avoid any kind of situation that like this.”

However, she quickly noted: “Full disclaimer, I have never done things like this, and I would have definitely fired staff if I found out that they have done this.

“I have heard that this happens. I have personally never seen it. It is definitely not okay to do this.”

Many were mortified after watching her video, with one saying: “In all my years of travel, I never once thought about this. Thank you.”

Another shared: “Oh my gosh, yuck! Thanks for sharing this.”

One revealed: “I don’t allow staff in my room while I’m there, the room is left clean and I tip.”

Another said: “If I’m not in the room, they do not enter.”

One admitted: “My toothbrush is always packed away.”

Meanwhile, one housekeeper shared her own experience, saying: “All my years of work as a housekeeper, I’ve not known a person to do this… yikes. I don’t ever touch someone’s personal stuff.”
