IIPE Vizag signs MoU with OIL for green fuel

Visakhapatnam: A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy, Visakhapatnam and Oil India Limited (OIL) on Tuesday. IIPE Director Prof Shalivahan and GM (R&D), OIL, Ibha Kalita, signed the MoU from both the organisations in the presence of Dean (R&D) Prof K Vijaya Kumar, Registrar RP Dwivedi, Prof. P. Aparoy, and Prof Somnath Ghosh of IIPE.

As part of the MoU, the Oil India Limited awarded a R&D project to the IIPE with an outlay budget of Rs 1.25 crore. Dr Kumud M. Tripathi with specialisation in chemistry from the department of humanities and sciences, IIPE will be the principal investigator for the collaborative project. The research project focuses on Co2 capture and conversion to green fuel by the utilisation of biomass-based graphene aerogels. The collaborative research is in line with the mission of IIPE and OIL towards developing innovative technologies in the green energy sector.
