Judging students on basis of language, not talent, big injustice: PM Modi

NEW DELHI: PM Narendra Modi on Saturday said the transformative National Education Policy-2020, giving due importance to Indian languages, marks the end of an era of language-discrimination as use of fluency in English as a benchmark has been against the underprivileged and those from rural background.

Delivering the inaugural address at an event to mark the third anniversary of the launch of the NEP, PM Modi said judging students on the basis of their language instead of their talent and capabilities has been the “biggest injustice” to them. “Education in the mother tongue is initiating real justice for the young talent in India. It is also a very significant step towards social justice,” he said.
“NEP will give due respect and credit to every language in the country…” the PM said.
