Karnataka Budget: Siddaramaiah begins presentation amid high expectations

Karnataka’s annual budget was presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today. This is his 15th budget presentation and eighth as the chief minister, which is the highest by any CM in the state.

All services rendered by Excise department will be digitised, the CM proposed in his budget speech.

Tax slabs for Indian Made Liquor (IML) and beer will be revised, he said.

Ahead of budget presentation, all eyes were on what revenue generation mechanism the govt comes up with to meet the financial requirements for the state’s five guarantee schemes.

It may be noted here that the five guarantees are expected to cost the government Rs 50,000 crore to Rs 60,000 crore annually.

For 2023-24, Karnataka’s budget had a total outlay of Rs 3.27 lakh crore in 2023-24.
