Kip Wightman’s 12-year-old niece filmed rescuing pet guinea pig from snake in QLD backyard

A 12-year-old girl has grabbed and swung around a snake in a desperate bid to rescue her guinea pig from its clutches.

Brisbane radio personality Kip Wightman has posted the remarkable footage of his niece Rosie going to extraordinary lengths to give her pet, named MaxiBon, a second chance at life.

The footage shows Rosie in her backyard at Eumundi, on the Sunshine Coast, looking in shrubs, before she pulls out a snake attached to the small mammal.

What follows are her frantic attempts to get the snake to release its grip — including her twirling in a circle while swinging the reptile.

Eventually, her father arrives and is able to separate the predator and prey, and MaxiBon is seen scampering to safety.

The snake appears to be brown in colour with a pale belly, indicating it could be a number of species — including a deadly eastern brown or a harmless python.
